Introduction

Have you ever witnessed someone being picked on? Imagine Bugs Bunny getting bullied by Yosemite Sam—being bossed around and excluded. Well, being a good friend is about more than just sharing toys or food. It’s also about stopping bullying when you see it happen. Let’s follow Buddy the bear on his journey to promote kindness and say NO to bullying.

1. Listen Up, Doc

When a friend shares their feelings or problems, be all ears. Give them your full attention, nod, and ask follow-up questions. Listening is essential. Buddy knows that being there for others makes you a true friend.

2. Don’t Leave Anybody Out

Remember Elmer Fudd accidentally excluding Bugs Bunny? Buddy wouldn’t do that! When playing with your buddies, make sure no one feels left out. Invite everyone to join in. Excluding people on purpose is a form of “quiet bullying.”

3. Speak Up to Stop It

If you witness bullying, don’t just stand there. Speak up! Tell the bullies to knock it off. If it continues, get a teacher involved. Tattling isn’t bad—it helps stop bullying. Buddy’s motto: Stand up and speak out!

4. Take Turns and Share the Spotlight

Buddy believes in fairness. Share the spotlight with your friends. Taking turns and celebrating each other’s achievements fosters strong friendships. No one should feel overshadowed or left behind.

5. Apologize Like You Mean It

We all make mistakes. When you mess up, apologize sincerely. Buddy knows that a heartfelt apology goes a long way. It shows you care about your friends’ feelings.

6. Give Your Friends a Hand

Helping friends is what buddies do. Whether it’s carrying heavy bags or offering a shoulder to cry on, lend a hand. Buddy’s paws are always ready to support others.

7. Celebrate Your Originality

Buddy celebrates uniqueness. Embrace your quirks and encourage your friends to do the same. Being authentic makes you a better friend. Remember, Lola Bunny deserves a spot on the basketball court too!

8. Watch What You Say

Words matter. Avoid hurtful comments or gossip. Buddy thinks before speaking. Kind words build bridges; hurtful ones tear them down.

9. Don’t Spread Rumors

Buddy despises rumors. Don’t be a rumor mill! If you hear gossip, shut it down. Be a reliable friend who doesn’t add fuel to the fire.

10. Add a Buddy Bench

Imagine a Buddy Bench at your school. When someone feels lonely, they sit there, signaling they need a friend. Be observant and invite them to join your group. Buddy approves!

Remember, Buddy the bear stands up against bullying. Let’s all be buddies, not bullies!
